Brown Girls Code (BGC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Evett Davis as Board President and the election of two members to the BGC Board of Directors: Michelle B. Jones and Dr. Alicia B. Elam. The Board provides leadership for carrying out BGC’s mission to help close the gender and diversity gap in technology. It is also the Board’s responsibility to provide counsel and guidance in direction and operation of Brown Girls Code as well as raise awareness of BGC’s programs in communities throughout the nation.

    Brown Girls Code’s Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from the medical, business technology, academic and volunteer communities within the Cyber District of Augusta, Georgia. “I am elated to welcome Alicia and Michelle as new Board Members and Evett as our president,” said Ebony Brown Hicks, CEO/Executive Director of Brown Girls Code. ​Each member brings a wealth of experience in their fields and will serve as tremendous assets to Brown Girls Code.

Michelle B. Jones, Treasurer

Michelle B. Jones has been employed with ADP for eight (8) years currently as a Special Operations Resource. Michelle was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and is a native of Augusta, GA. Previously, she worked in the nonprofit community as an Office Manager for five (5) years at Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia. Michelle attended Voorhees College with a major in Organizational Management.

In her spare time, Michelle has volunteered with the Richmond County School System serving on the PTA Board as Treasurer for several terms. Through her current employment, she has also participated in various community initiatives like Stuff the Bus, Junior Achievement and Arts in the Heart. These experiences have given her a deep appreciation for community and how giving to others helps improve their quality of life.

Dr. Alicia B. Elam, Secretary

Alicia B. Elam, PharmD earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 1995 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1990.

​

Professionally, she has over 24 years of practice experience in various pharmacy settings to include Ambulatory Care, Nursing Home Consulting, Clinical Hospital, and Community Medication Therapy Management (MTM).  Dr. Elam also served for 4 years as a Naval Pharmacy Officer (Lieutenant) in Hampton Roads, Virginia from 1996 - 2000 and worked as a civilian pharmacy contractor for the U.S. Navy for 7 years after leaving active duty.

In addition to her pharmacy practice experience, Dr. Elam is an Associate Professor in the Physician Assistant program at Augusta University, where she serves as the Course Director for the pharmacology curriculum as well as the Research and Teaching practicum. She also serves as the Associate Director of Admissions for the Physician Assistant program and is honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve others by teaching and assisting students in reaching their educational goals.
